[Peace] The Mendacity of Hope: Obama Gets His War On

News of the weekend:

(1) FBI raids in the Midwest.  Having coopted what passes for the left, the 
Obama administration uses Homeland Security to demonstrate that its only enemies 
are fascists.

(2) Obama goes to Kabul, Afghanistan, under cover of darkness. He declares the 
war in Afghanistan "absolutely essential" because "a Taliban takeover of 
Afghanistan would put more Americans in danger," and "everyone" knows the 
importance of the continued occupation of the landlocked nation. But he didn't 
say why, because he knows that if he did, the US populace wouldn't support it.

(3) The New York Times features (3/28) a scenario promoting war with Iran, 
reported by its chief Washington correspondent from the very same people who 
brought us the invasion of Iraq.  Israel can hardly be blamed for a little attack...
