[Peace] The Democrats & Election 2010: Why We Need an Alternative

While I'm sure those are all nice people, and no one questions that we need an
alternative, and I wouldn't discourage anyone from attending this event, let's
be real for a moment.  In this election, the only alternative is the
Republicans.  Read 'em and weep.

Subject: [Peace] The Democrats & Election 2010: Why We Need an Alternative

Hi all,

As many of you know, some folks from Champaign-Urbana, including members of
AWARE, the ISO, Catholic Worker, and others, will be driving to Chicago this
Saturday for a regional anti-war demonstration. Afterwards, I thought people
might be interested in checking out the following forum (I'm pasting info on the
anti-war march itself below the forum announcement). This forum will put forward
an alternative to the endless war and budget cuts that both the Republicans and
Democrats seem to have in store for us.

In Solidarity,

Julien

The Democrats & Election 2010:
Why We Need an Alternative
Sat. Oct 16th, 6pm
St. Paul's Cultural Center
2215 W. North Ave, Chicago, IL

with
Rich Whitney, Illinois Green Party candidate for Governor

Dan La Botz, Ohio Socialist Party candidate for U.S. Senate

Why We Need an Alternative: In 2008, Barack Obama's candidacy inspired millions
to vote for 'change they could believe in'. Now, more undocumented immigrants
face deportation than under Bush, the US has committed more troops and dollars
to occupy Afghanistan, the number of uninsured has soared past 50 million,
Guantanamo remains open for business, FBI raids target antiwar activists, 25
million Americans are unemployed or underemployed and budget cuts across the
country threaten to devastate funding for education and social services ...but
Wall Street profits and bonuses are surging.

Join us for this important discussion after the Midwest Regional March for Peace
and Justice on Saturday starting at 12:30pm: http://www.chicagomassaction.org/

sponsoring and endorsing organizations: Chicago International Socialist
Organization, Dan La Botz, Socialist Party campaign for U.S. Senate, Ohio,
Solidarity, Chicago Socialist Party
