The Right Turn in U.S. Politics: How it Happened--and What We Can Do to Stop It
Monday, Oct. 25, 5:30 PM
Gregory Hall R. 215; 810 S. Wright Street Urbana, Illinois
Located on the southwest corner of the Quadrangle of the U of I

In the midst of the economic crisis and the declining popularity of
President Obama and the Democrats, the right wing is on a rampage, and
the Republicans may make significant gains in the midterm elections.
>From anti-immigrant to anti-Muslim attacks, to hateful rallies by Tea
Party and other Republican fanatics, it's easy to believe that the
right in the US is on a roll and is re-shaping American politics. How

their impact from growing even more?

Come hear Ahmed Shawki, editor of the International Socialist Review
and author of Black Liberation and Socialism, address these issues,
and join the discussion about building a left alternative to this
bigotry.
