National MoveOn made a little mistake, and left out the part about military
spending.

But I fixed it. :)

*Ryan Budget Endorsed by Romney Would Kill 1 Million Jobs in 1 Year,
129,000 by Cutting Domestic Spending to Protect Military Spending*

Urbana, Illinois — MoveOn members will distribute 1 million pink slips
across the country Thursday to inform voters about how Mitt Romney and Rep.
Paul Ryan’s budget plans would cost 1 million jobs in just 1 year - killing
more than a hundred thousand jobs by shifting money from domestic spending
to military spending - and Champaign-Urbana will be part of the action.

MoveOn members in Champaign-Urbana will meet at 9AM at 301 N Neil Street in
Champaign on Thursday and will hold signs and be available to the media
before they split up to deliver pink slips to voters.

The Ryan budget, endorsed by Mitt Romney, would end Medicare and slash
public education spending and economic investment, asking the middle class
to pay more yet offering more tax cuts to the rich, while increasing
military spending. The nonpartisan Economic Policy Institute projected this
approach would kill more than 1 million jobs in 2013 and more than
4.1million jobs by the end of 2014. [1]

At least 12.9% of this job loss - 129,000 jobs in 2013, and 530,000 jobs by
the end of 2014 - will come from replacing planned cuts to military
spending with increased cuts to domestic spending. A 2011 study by the
University of Massachusetts' Political Economy Research Institute showed
that every time you replace a billion dollars in domestic cuts with a
billion dollars in military cuts, you decrease the job loss from cuts by at
least 25.8%. [2] Current plans to cut spending call for a 50/50 split
between domestic cuts and military cuts, but Romney and Ryan would replace
the military cuts with domestic cuts. If the Romney-Ryan plan were changed
just by restoring the 50/50 split, that would eliminate at least 12.9% of
the job loss from the Romney-Ryan plan.

“Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan would be great for the 1%, but they’d be a
nightmare for America's working families,” said Robert Naiman, a MoveOn
member from Urbana. “We’re distributing these pink slips so voters know how
many jobs Romney and Ryan's budget would destroy, and how much of that
destruction would come from cutting domestic spending to increase military
spending.”

MoveOn.org Political Action members across the country are organizing
hundreds of events on Thursday in which they’ll deliver the pink slips to
voters. MoveOn members and others will also be able share an online version
of the pink slip with their friends and family members via email and social
media.
