documentary film takes us to India's Barefoot College, founded by
Bunker Roy to provide rural women living in poverty with an education
that empowers them to make their communities self-reliant and
sustainable. Rafea, a 30-year-old Jordanian mother of four, travels
outside her village for the first time to attend Barefoot's solar
engineering program, where she meets students from Guatemala, Kenya,
Burkina Faso, and Colombia. Join us for a free screening, followed by a
locally focused discussion of issues raised in the film.

Other Information:The monthly Community Cinema series offers free screenings of thought-provoking films from Independent Lens,
the Emmy Award-winning PBS series, followed by locally focused panel
discussions. Each film includes closed captions. A sign language

Public Media, WILL.Radio.TV.Online, and the Champaign Public Library, in
collaboration with Independent Lens and ITVS.
