[Peace] Fwd: [Build Programs, Not Jails] Reminder of County Board Meeting 9/18 @ 630 p.m.

Dear Peace Activists,

The Champaign County Board is one place you can make a difference at the
local level on two issues in particular. You may have seen pictures of the
armored vehicle the Sheriff accepted as a "free gift." The second issue is
the continuing plans for a new jail building. Instead of a new jail, we
would prefer programs -- for example incarceration is not a solution for
mentally ill nor drug addiction.

The County Board meets this Thursday, September 18th at the Lyle Shields
Room, Brookens Admin, 1776 E. Washington, Urbana at 630 p.m. "Build
Programs Not Jails" will be speaking out against the planning process for
the new jail as well as against the Sheriff's acquistion of a huge new
military vehicle, even larger than the one used in Ferguson against the
community.

Join us at 6:30. Be prepared to speak during public participation (five
minute maximum) or just lend your support. Show the County Board they are
being watched.
