Barnraising 9.28.05

Food - Stuart Tarr
- folks canned pasta sauce, and froze peppers etc
- Kaylx center has freezer if Molly can get bread from Mirabelle to freeze
- We have a list of caterers from the Visitors Bureau who may donate food.
Lynsee is sending this to Stuart.
- Still need a kitchen - Molly is following up with the Herring.

Housing - no point yet
- Needs a point person.
- Danielle asked Carol Inskeep if she would coordinate. They are still in
discussion.
- Lynsee will get visitors bureau to get competitive group rate pricing
from local hotels/motels for an estimated 75-100 people. We can ask
Jumers to match it. They have offered $65 for a double. That's good, but
maybe we could do better if we get them to match other rates.
- Sascha

Publicity - Lynsee the great
- Lynsee is starting the publicity bomb soon!
- Prometheus is sending a write up we can use as text by the end of the
week - Lynsee will cook it up and send a shout out to the list.
- Let's use the RFU image for the barnraising.
- let's get on the cover of the HUB
- Lynsee will drop request to video group
- Lynsee contacted WEFT and others to let them know about the barnraising
as a potential point of collaboration.
- What does sponsorship mean? What do sponsors get out of it? We will
discuss this next week.

Prep Tech - Doug
- windows are the biggest issue - Rod Van Buskirk was a WEFTie and he owns
Bacon Van Buskirk and maybe they would donate
- PACA and Homeworks search is planned
- Lynsee has a wish list from RFU and will start the search for materials
- Tower drawings were submitted to the city Wednesday for a special use
permit.

someone is coming probably weekend of Oct 15-16.

Entertainment - Jenny
- Jenny has booked bands
- We need a shows rep at the barnraising - who? Jenny can't come to
meetings.

Role of Wireless in the Barnraising
- We need a CUWiN point person and some folks to teach how tos workshop
- Dave Young offered a talk about DIY networking - what's possible
- Andrew raised a concern about streaming over the internet - maybe RFU
doesn't walk to go this route.
- Idea: use community wireless to do remote production to send back to the
station and go out over the air. We could demo this.

Weekend Schedule
- William Gillespie - radio theater and sound production
- Dave Young - DIY networking
- Bob McChesney - will give talk on the 12th
- Pauline Bartolone - invite her to come back to teach radio production

Can we make sure we have women too?
When we go on the air perhaps invite the Mayor, councilmembers, etc?
