1. Arnold Air Society is holding a RELAY run from Normal to Champaign IL to
raise money and awareness for SWANN SPECIAL CARE CENTER.  It will be held on
Friday, May 2nd from 6-7 pm at Armory floor of Armory (corner of 4th and
Gregory).  Also tri-service band, refreshments, and a guest speaker will talk
about volunteering in your community and the positive impact it has, and
lastly a raffle will be held with prizes from restaurants to Circles and Body
'n Sole.  Please bring as many people as you can to help us bring awareness to
a wonderful place that most CU residents don't even know about!  Everyone is
invited to the ceremony at the end of the run.  If you have any questions or

2. The Office of Volunteer Programs is looking for a few good students to
work next academic year!  Potential employees need to support student
involvement in community service.  Various tasks include interacting with
students and community organizations, connecting students with volunteer
opportunities, researching community organizations and their volunteer
needs, planning events to promote service, maintaining our websites,
tracking systems, listserv, and other record-keeping, and supporting the
projects of fellow staff members.  Not to mention, you get to work in the
coolest office on campus!!!

If you are bright, motivated individual and possess a commitment to
service, a helpful attitude, and the ability to work independently, then
this job is for you!  Federal Work Study Students are encouraged to apply.

3. Champaign County Nursing Home is having a Carnival day on May 13th from
2:00-3:30.  They need volunteers for face painting, clowning, animal
balloons, magic, juggling, music, or your own special carnival talent.

4. Canterbury Ridge Assisted Living in Urbana is looking for walking
partners for our senior residents with mild memory loss.  They love to get
out in the nice weather, but need a partner!  Time commitment is flexible,
and there are lots of open slots.  Also needed are people who have musical
talent who would like to come play your instrument for our residents.
Flute, piano, violin, guitar, and other instruments are welcome!  For

5. Court Appointed Special Advocate, CASA volunteers are ordinary people
who are committed to doing what is best for a child who has been neglected
or abused. All our volunteers are trained in courtroom procedure, social
services, the juvenile justice system, and the special needs of abused and
neglected children. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice
for these children in court. The result is that a child is placed into a
safe, loving home where he/she can thrive. We welcome volunteers from all
cultures, professions, and ethnic and educational backgrounds.  Contact

6. Reassurance calling is provided by Family Service of Champaign County
and have senior citizens who have requested someone to contact them by
telephone once a day.  Calls are made 6 mornings a week, Monday through
Saturday from 8:30a.m. to 10:30a.m.  Contact Luedella Patterson for more
