1. Fill out the community service survey... help OVP figure out what to do
http://www.union.uiuc.edu/ovp/resources/survey.htm -- it's quick (8
questions) and will help us figure out how volunteerism is effecting
students.

2. VIP vants...to suck...your blood... Blood drive is next week (Jan
28th-31st) here in the Illini Union.  You can help save lives!!

3. Play with and keep an eye on children -- there is a need for
volunteers to hold babies and play with children while mom/dad/caregiver
is/are learning the safety procedures they need to know. The Child Safety
Seat Inspection Station (CSSIS) is a place where parents of children ages
0-8 (approximately) can come to make sure their car seats and booster
seats are safe and appropriately secured in their vehicle. Four out of
five safety seats are installed incorrectly which can cause serious injury
or death in the event of a car crash. Trained technicians assist the
parents. CSSIS staff also need help writing notes on the clipboard as
they work. They'll tell you what to write, all you have to do is jot down
their thoughts! :) Times: The CSSIS is open on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to
1p.m. and Thursday afternoons from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Pro Ambulance, 408
S. Neil in Champaign. Possible time slots are: Tuesdays: 8:45 a.m. - 11:00
a.m. 11:00 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. Thursdays: 1:15 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. 3:45 p.m. -
6:15 p.m. Times are flexible so please call Allison Albrecht at 398-8080
extention 136 if are interested in working at any time. Thank you!!! [The
Child Safety Seat Inspection Station is a service of the Champaign County
SAFE KIDS Coalition.]

4. Crisis Line volunteer training this February (contact them soon as I
know from previous years that the slots fill up super-fast)!!! The Crisis
Line is looking for volunteers. Develop hands-on interpersonal &counseling
skills, add further experience to your resume. Volunteers work with a
variety of situations, including calls about depression, anxiety, suicide
prevention, and information/referral. There is a required 21-hour training
followed by ongoing supervision and case reviews. Volunteers can work from
home or another location. Training dates are February 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20
and 25 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. An informal interview is required for all
prospective volunteers. Contact Jake Livengood, Crisis Line coordinator,
at 373-2430, Ext. 124 or e-mail at jlivengood at provenabhcu.org.

5. Volunteers are needed to help seniors and disabled adults enjoy an
outing to Krannert Art Museum on Friday, January 31st from 1:30-3:30.  The
more help we get to push wheel chairs or to take an arm of an older
person, the more customers we can take with us.  Our customers love our
outings and would enjoy the company or a volunteer.  Please call Kathy at
Circle of Friends Adult Day Center, 359-7937 if you are able to meet us at
Krannert on the 31st.

6. Activity Day will be held from 10 am - 3 pm, with many RSO groups
having booths and performances, a DJ, and prizes. So come to the Illini
Union and check out what various student groups have to offer.
