1. The United Way of Champaign County and the Office of Volunteer Programs
are hosting the Make a Difference Drive. Common, everyday items are being
collected for local agencies that are in need. These agencies include the
Champaign County Nursing Home, Swann Special care Center, Crisis Nursery
Community day Care Center, and many more. Items that are being collected
include toothbrushes, razors, glue, folders, coloring books, crayons, and
more. For a complete list of agencies and items visit
http://www.union.uiuc.edu/ovp/. On campus drop-off sites include the
University YMCA, Illini Union Bookstore, and the Office of Volunteer Programs
in the Union. Questions or comments contact OVP at 333-7424 or e-mail at
ovp at uiuc.edu

2. From October 13th to 30th Beckwith Student Government will be raising
money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the United Cerebral Palsy, and
The National Spinal Cord Injury Association. Raise money by getting pledges
from sponsors for you to use a manual wheelchair on campus. If you do not
choose to take a wheelchair out, you can still collect donations for the
fundraiser. We hope that individuals will raise their awareness of people
with disabilities from the experience of riding in a wheelchair on campus, and
at the same time raise money for worthy causes.
Questions may be directed at Anne (amhopkin at uiuc.edu, 332-0297, Rm#15)
or Mike (mrgorman at uiuc.edu, 332-2572, Rm#23a) feel free to e-mail, call,
or knock on our door!
