program starting as soon as possible. Contact Jeff at 344-9583 or by email
jtcollier at urbanaparks.org.

2. Eastern Illinois Foodbank (EIF) is looking for volunteers to pick Roma
tomatoes from an organic transition experiment test plot. Volunteers will be
organized over the next few weeks to pick the remaining crop as it ripens to
be distributed to our member organizations. EIF serves 14 counties with 62,000
people living in poverty. Our agencies serve over 5500 needy people weekly.
This generous donation of freshly picked tomatoes will provide a healthy and
nutritious addition to the products available to our clients. To be placed on
the volunteer list for this project contact Beth Hewing by email at
bahewing at eifoodbank.org or by phone at 217-328-3663 x 20. She will contact
volunteers when picking dates and times have been set.

3. Volunteers of all ages are needed on October 4th, 2003 to clean up the Salt
Fork River, one of Champaign County's best recreational resources. You can
BYOC (Bring Your Own Canoe) or just bring yourself and some gloves to help
collect cans, bottles, fishing gear and buckets of other debris from the Salt
Fork's banks and from along Homer Lake and Collins Pond. FREE t-shirts will
be given out (as long as supplies last). Afterwards, stay and enjoy
refreshments and a drawing for prizes, all donated by local businesses

4. Twice a month, (the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays) the Greater Community AIDS
Project (GCAP) stocks a store located within the Eastern Illinois Foodbank
where clients who have HIV/AIDS come to shop. We are in need of 6 volunteers
on shopping days to help stock the shelves prior to shopping time and then to
monitor the shelves for re-stocking as the clients go through. Also,
volunteers may be asked to help clients carry grocery boxes to their cars.
The hours the volunteers are needed are from 3:00 p.m. to about 6:30 p.m. It
is imperative to have at least 3 volunteers available at the 3:00 time slot,
as that is when the majority of the shelf stocking takes place. Volunteers
may work for an hour or the whole shift if they desire. The Eastern Illinois
Foodbank is located at 2405 North Shore Dr. in Urbana. Take Lincoln Ave.
north over I-74. Turn left on the frontage road. The first right is North
Shore Dr. The Foodbank is a large metal building on the left.
Call Ray or Jo at GCAP to volunteer. 351-2437 or e-mail at gcap at shout.net
