1.  OVP Holiday Toy Drive

If you want to feel jolly and enjoy your holly-day season this year, and collect presents for local children in the community!  Bring in new toys worth about $15 each to room 277 Union and ensure your spot on the "Nice" list this year.  Donations will be collected from November 13 - December 6.  Additionally, those who personally drop off their donations at the Office of Volunteer Programs can register to win an iPod nano!  

2.  Service Day in the Six Pack

Interested in service? Not really sure how to get involved? It's never too late.
U of I offers many opportunities....from various issues on campus, domestically, and abroad.  Come find out about these in "Service Day in the Six Pack", Monday, November 13th at 6:45pm in the Peabody Tunnels Conference Rooms 49-51!  Alternative Spring Break, International Impact, Volunteer Illini Projects, Office of Volunteer Programs, Alphi Phi Omega, and Teach for America will be present.  Free food available for all that show up and stay to listen.

3.  Jewish Service Corps

AVODAH: The Jewish Service Corps, combines front-line anti-poverty work, Jewish learning, and community building into a one-year program for young Jews, 21-26.  Their application goes up next week!  Contact dschaefer at adodah.net <mailto:dschaefer at adodah.net>  for more information!

4.  Salvation Army Toy Shop

The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to staff their annual toy shop!  This is a great volunteer opportunity for groups!  Hours are flexible, but help is needed Dec 6 -8, Dec 13-16 to organize tables, stock table with toys, December 19-21 to be a hostess or host to escort a parent in the selection of toys. Duties can also include help restocking tables. 5.  Downtown Holiday Decorating

The City of Champaign and Champaign Park District needs your help transforming the downtown area into a festive winter wonderland. They're looking for volunteers to help string lights, put up garland, and spread the holiday spirit. 6.  Calls From Santa

Help a child feel special as they receive a personal call from Santa this holiday season! Volunteers will contact children and discuss their holiday wishes. Please Males ONLY!  Outgoing personality and ability to interact well with children are a must!  Help is needed on Dec 12, 2006 from 5:30-8:00pm! 7.  Parade of Lights Volunteers

Get in the holiday spirit by helping with Champaign's only Holiday Parade! Volunteers are needed to help stage the parade entries, man parade barricades, and manage the crowd flow. Help make this holiday tradition a huge success!  Help is needed on Dec 2, 2006 from 4:30pm - 8:00pm. 8.  Crisis Nursery Children's Holiday Shop

Each year Crisis Nursery hosts a Children's Holiday Shop where children under the age of 12 get to shop for gifts priced $1-$7.  Crisis Nursery needs your help to assist children in their shopping endeavors!  This is a great group activity!  The Holiday Shop will be located at Lincoln Square Village and will take place on November 24th (10:00 am - 2:00 pm), November 25th, December 2nd, and December 9th (10:00 am - 6:00 pm) and November 26th, December 3rd, and December 10th (Noon - 5:00 pm). 9.  Bell Ringers

During the holiday season you will see the familiar Salvation Army red kettle throughout the county. Individuals and groups are needed to ring bells during the holiday season. Funds raised support The Salvation Army's programs in Champaign County throughout the year including the Christmas Toy Shop and Homeless Shelter.  Help is needed between 10am-9pm from 11/17/06 through 12/23/06! 10.  Habitat for Humanity Homeworks Store!

Let the moving begin! Beginning November 1, Habitat will need volunteers to help finish our new store and offices. Work will include sealing the floors, painting everything, moving the administrative offices, setting up the retail areas, moving the store offices and getting ready for our Grand Opening on December 1st!  Volunteers are needed everyday, EXCEPT Sundays and between November 22nd and 26th for Thanksgiving!  Each day is broken up into three shifts:  9a - 12p, 1 - 4p, 6 - 9p.  Groups and individuals are invited to help!  For more information or to sign up for a shift, contact Courtney (volunteer at cuhabitat.org or 355-6460 x16).
