1.  OVP Holiday Toy Drive

If you want to feel jolly and enjoy your holly-day season this year, and collect presents for local children in the community!  Bring in new toys worth about $15 each to room 277 Union and ensure your spot on the "Nice" list this year.  Donations will be collected from November 13 - December 6.  Additionally, individuals who personally drop off their donations at the Office of Volunteer Programs can register to win an iPod nano!  

 

2.  Crisis Nursery Children's Holiday Shop

Each year Crisis Nursery hosts a Children's Holiday Shop where children under the age of 12 get to shop for gifts priced $1-$7.  Crisis Nursery needs your help to assist children in their shopping endeavors!  This is a great group activity!  The Holiday Shop will be located at Lincoln Square Village and will take place on November 24th (10:00 am - 2:00 pm), November 25th, December 2nd, and December 9th (10:00 am - 6:00 pm) and November 26th, December 3rd, and December 10th (Noon - 5:00 pm). 3.  Jewish Service Corps

AVODAH: HELP fight for justice and equality in New York, Chicago, and Washington DC's neediest neighborhoods.  Work full-time on issues you care about like immigration, hunger, literacy, public health, domestic violence, and more. 4.  Salvation Army Social Services Applications 

Looking for an easy volunteer project?  The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to help next week with their social services applications for holiday assistance.  Volunteers are needed on Monday, Nov. 13 from 9-4, and Tuesday - Friday, Nov. 14-17 from 9-6.  Volunteers are needed for 2 hour shifts. 5.  Activity Assistant at Champaign County Nursing Home!

Share your talents with the Champaign County Nursing Home!  CCNH is looking for volunteers to engage in a variety of activities with residents.  Help them play volleyball, bowling and mind games on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, paint residents nails on Tuesday afternoons, or play crazy 8's on Thursday afternoons. 6.  Thanksgiving Dinner Cooks

Staying in the Champaign-Urbana area during Thanksgiving Break?  Prepare a Thanksgiving dish (anything you would like to make: stuffing, turkey, sweet potatoes, or another family favorite). The Center for Women in Transition asks that volunteers prepare a dish at home and drop it off at the Center on Wednesday before Thanksgiving so that they can stock the fridges for their residents. You will be helping the Center for Women in Transition provide a festive, fun, food-filled holiday for their residents!  Contact Michael Parrish at (217) 352-7151 for more information!

 

7.  Youth Volleyball Coaches!

The Champaign County Park District is looking for volunteer volleyball coaches for a youth league. This league cannot be successful without the efforts of the volunteer coaches! Coaches are responsible for attending a coaches meeting, contacting their players to let them know when their practice time will be, planning and leading practices, handing out uniforms and schedules, and coaching their team during matches. Coaches are expected to teach with the understanding that this program focuses on learning, having fun and sportsmanship and not on winning. The time commitment is from December 3rd until mid-March, one hour on Sunday afternoons and one hour on Monday evenings. 8.  Card Game Instructors

Bickford Cottage, an assisted living residence, is looking for card game instructors to teach new card games to their residents!  Help is needed on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. and dinner is provided!  Contact Linda Uebele at (217) 403-1900 for more information!!

 

9.  Crisis Nursery Holiday Shop Bag Decorating!

Crisis Nursery needs volunteers to help make their plain gift bags look festive for the children who will shop at their Holiday Shop.  These bags will be used to wrap the presents that children purchase at the Crisis Nursery Holiday Shop.  All materials will be provided.  Times are flexible. 10.  Perfect Prom Project Donations!

The Perfect Prom Project is an RSO that collects donations of prom dresses and accessories and provides them to high school girls who might not otherwise be able to afford them!  Help this great cause!  Remember to bring your formal dresses and accessories back to school after Thanksgiving Break!
