1.  OVP Holiday Toy Drive

If you want to feel jolly and enjoy your holly-day season this year, and collect presents for local children in the community!  Bring in new toys worth about $15 each to room 277 Union and ensure your spot on the "Nice" list this year.  Donations will be collected from November 13 - December 6.  Additionally, individuals who personally drop off their donations at the Office of Volunteer Programs can register to win an iPod nano!  

 

2.  A Good Meal + A Good Deal

Can't make it to the toy store??  Join Noodles & Company and Volunteer Illini Projects in support the Office of Volunteer Program's Holiday Toy Drive!  On Tuesday, November 28th from 4-9pm 10% of sales will be donated to purchase toys for children at local human service agencies!  Be sure to hand in the flyer when you purchase your meal!  Flyers can be picked up at 277 Illini Union and at Noodles & Company.

 

3.  Crisis Nursery Children's Holiday Shop

Each year Crisis Nursery hosts a Children's Holiday Shop where children under the age of 12 get to shop for gifts priced $1-$7.  Crisis Nursery needs your help to assist children in their shopping endeavors!  This is a great group activity!  The Holiday Shop will be located at Lincoln Square Village and will take place on November 24th (10:00 am - 2:00 pm), November 25th, December 2nd, and December 9th (10:00 am - 6:00 pm) and November 26th, December 3rd, and December 10th (Noon - 5:00 pm). 4.  Exchange Program Representative

Rewarding part time opportunity working with high school exchange students.  Earn a stipend per placement.  Responsibilities include recruiting host families, supervising students and working with schools. 5.  Christmas in a box Distribution

The Vineyard Food Ministry is looking for volunteers to deliver boxes of food and gifts from their "angel tree" to residents at Restoration Urban Ministries. 6.  Adult Collection Maintenance Volunteer

The Champaign Public Library needs volunteers to help straighten materials on shelves in adult print and AV collections. Duties include placing books on face-out display and shelving the adult collection for accuracy as well as pulling damaged materials for review by library staff. 7.  Wrapping Presents!

Come practice your present wrapping skills and spread holiday cheer at Marketplace Mall! The Reading Group needs TONS of volunteers to wrap gifts (no experience necessary) from 10 am - 8 pm weekends in December and the week before Christmas. (So Dec. 2,3,9,10,16-24)! 8.  Environmental Education

The Champaign Park District needs your help!  Listen to frogs sing a frog chorus. Find an animal track and follow it down a path. Use a water quality testing kit to determine the health of a lake. Call owls in for a night-time visit. Teach children and adults about the natural world. Volunteer help is needed at the Environmental Education Center in Homer, just 20 minutes east of Urbana. Volunteer tasks include greeting visitors, teaching programs, animal care, preparing for programs, researching for programs, assisting the Staff and much more. Your time will make a difference. 9.  CWIT Volunteer Orientation

Are you interested in volunteering with CWIT, the Center for Women in Transition?  CWIT asks that all volunteers attend an orientation. Their next scheduled orientations are November 28th at 5:00 pm and December 6th at 5:30 pm. At orientation they will go over the history, mission, and programs of CWT, explain volunteer policies, and go on a tour of our facilities. After orientation volunteers can be placed with their programs to become regular volunteers. If your group is interested in volunteering they ask that a representative attend one of our orientations and convey the information to the rest of your group. 10.  Music Enjoyment

Carle Arbours is looking for students who are willing to share their musical talents with their residents!  This is a very flexible opportunity and can easily be set up by calling Liz Dunn at (217) 383-6843!
