1.  Non-Profit and Government Career Fair and Non-Profit Workshop and Career Panel!

Interested in a career with non-profits or the Government?  Attend the Non-Profit and Government Career Fair on Monday, March 12th, 2007 in Illini Union Rooms A, B, and C from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  This fair is open to all UIUC students (no registration required). Also join us for the Non-Profit Workshop and Career Panel sponsored by OVP and Idealist.org!  Learn more about working for non-profits and possible careers in those fields from those who have been there on April 9, 2007 from 3pm-7pm in 406 Illini Union!  We hope to see you there!!

 

2.  Volunteering Abroad Panel

Interested in international volunteer projects?  Join the Office of Volunteer Programs for its Volunteering Abroad Panel discussion where current U of I students and study abroad administrators will speak about their experiences abroad and tell you about the details in planning and implementing a successful trip!  This program will take place on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 in 406 Illini Union at 7pm!

 

3.  University YMCA Student Activist Conference

To be held at the beginning of March, this event hopes to bring together all of the activist groups on campus, whatever their agendas, for a day of workshops, panels, and speakers that will address issues important to all students working to make a difference here on campus and beyond .  The conference will be held on Saturday, March 3rd from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm and is free, including meals, for all UIUC students.  Experienced and accomplished activist Cindy Sheehan as their keynote speaker.  She will give her talk, entitled "One Person Can Make a Difference" at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 1st, and will also meet informally with students prior to her talk.  Cindy Sheehan tells her powerful and provocative story of her work as an anti-war activist that began upon the death of her son, Casey, who was killed on April 4, 2004 on a mission in Iraq.   The University YMCA's Student Activist Conference hopes to serve as a point of inspiration, activist education, and coalition building, and we need your help to make it so! 4.  Westview Elementary Fun Fest

This year's Fun Fest will be on Friday, March 2nd, 2007 from approximately 5:30-8:30pm at Westview Elementary school (Russell and John streets in Champaign).  Last year they utilized the students to help run their carnival games in each of the 18 classrooms.  Contact Kelly Hill at (217) 369-8723 for more information.

 

5.  Youth Basketball Coaches

Basketball coaches needed! Responsible for coaching children of all skill levels, various age groups 6-13 yrs. old, emphasizing fun and fair play. Communicate with parents, organize practices, and attend games. Game days are Saturday from 8am to 1pm and practices are set by coaches for 1-2 times a week. Pre-season runs late November through December, with breaks around holidays, and the season runs January through early March. Free ASEP training provided. 6.  Easter Eggstravaganza

Plan your RSO volunteer projects in advance!  Volunteers will set up an egg hunt for about 800 children in Champaign. Volunteers will help with registration, monitor hunt areas, hide eggs and also need folks willing to be costumed characters. 7.  Nite Lite Egg Hunt

It's never to early to start planning for a great volunteer project!  Join the Champaign's Park District for their Nite Lite Egg Hunt!  The egg hunt is different from all the rest. It is by flashlight at Hessel Park. Volunteers will hide eggs, take registration and monitor the egg hunt course. 8.  Spring Nature Tour Guides Needed

Guide small groups of children ages 5 years to 12 years old through Busey Woods doing educational activities. Training is provided for these active hand-on tours. The curriculum and supplies are also provided. Location is at the Anita Purves Nature Center.  Choose your own schedule!  Monday-Friday between 9:00am and 2:30pm. 9.  Midwest Asian American Students Union Spring Conference 

The MAASU Spring Conference which consists of workshops, banquet, speakers, and performances is an Asian American interest event, and is in need of volunteers. 10. Read Across America

A great one-time volunteer opportunity:  Play with kids doing educational crafts or helping to set up booths, maybe hand out stickers, fun random easy stuff! Volunteers are needed in 2 hour shifts from 9 am - 3 pm on March 10th.  Please email Emma O'Brien at helpRAA at gmail.com to participate in this year's 7th Annual Read Across America! (Located in Lincoln Square Mall)
