1.  Non-Profit and Government Career Fair and Non-Profit Workshop and Career Panel!

Interested in a career with non-profits or the Government?  Attend the Non-Profit and Government Career Fair on Monday, March 12th, 2007 in Illini Union Rooms A, B, and C from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  This fair is open to all UIUC students (no registration required). Also join us for the Non-Profit Workshop and Career Panel sponsored by OVP and Idealist.org!  Learn more about working for non-profits and possible careers in those fields from those who have been there on April 9, 2007 from 3pm-7pm in 406 Illini Union!  We hope to see you there!!

 

2.  Volunteering Abroad Panel

Interested in international volunteer projects?  Join the Office of Volunteer Programs for its Volunteering Abroad Panel discussion where current U of I students and study abroad administrators will speak about their experiences abroad and tell you about the details in planning and implementing a successful trip!  This program will take place on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 in 406 Illini Union at 7pm!

 

3.  Volunteer Baseball Coaches

The Boys and Girls Club is looking for three experienced volunteer baseball coaches to coach approximately twelve youth, boys and girls, for their CU Kiwanis Little League team. The positions would start around mid-April and run through late June. Coaches need to be available for practice once a week, as well as games. The Club will provide transportation to and from all practices and games, and there will always be at least one Club staff present to drive the van and assist. All applicants will have to fill out a volunteer application both for the Club, and for the Little League.  Contact Paul H. 4.  Site Leaders for Illini Union Community Connection Welcome Week Needed

The Illini Union Community Connection program is looking for enthusiastic, dedicated, community builders who are willing to volunteer to serve as Site Leaders for Illini Union Community Connection Welcome Week Service Projects. Site Leaders will lead service projects for first year and transfer students during the Fall 2007 Welcome Week activities.  Volunteer projects are based in five interest areas: Hunger and Homelessness, Youth and Education, Neighborhood Involvement, Health Needs, and the Environment.  Site Leaders encourage group interaction, share insights, and provide a comfortable environment for participants. 

 

If you love to volunteer, have a passion for service, and want to help new students build connections, this opportunity is for you! All applications are due March 15, 2007 at 5pm.

 

5.  Early American Museum
A facility of the Champaign County Forest Preserve District, the Early American Museum interprets life on the Grand Prairie in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Located in the Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve and adjacent to the seven-acre Mabery Gelvin Botanical Garden, the museum offers many educational and exciting opportunities for the people of Champaign County and East Central Illinois to experience their cultural heritage. 6.  Journey of Hope Presentation  

Four children, from different areas of the United States, will be joining several camp counselors to share their personal stories about the struggles of living with HIV/AIDS, a life-threatening disease.  The Journey of Hope presentations are organized by Camp Heartland (http://www.campheartland.org <https://exchange.ad.uiuc.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.campheartland.org> ), the nation's largest camp dedicated to meeting the needs of children infected or affected by the HIV/AIDS virus.  Come this Wednesday, March 7th at 7:00pm to Room 100 of Gregory Hall to hear this unique presentation. 7.  Newsletter assembly

Help the Family Service Resource Center with its monthly mailings!  Assist in folding the newsletter, stuffing envelopes, and affixing labels. This opportunity is during the last week of each month for one day. 8.  Illini Health Association

The Illini Health Association needs your help! Come to Noyes 162 on Wednesday at 8:00 for the first meeting of this health-related volunteer/charity group.  Leadership positions are available and all program/fund raiser ideas will be seriously considered. 9.  Upcoming Prospective Students of Medicine Meeting

Thursday, March 8th at 7:00 p.m., 259 English Building.  At this meeting, we will be discussing the Give Life campaign that PSM will be actively participating in with Gift of Hope to get 3.5 million organ donors in Illinois.  PSM will be having a guest speaker from Gift of Hope, Michael Henderson, who is a public
education specialist with Gift of Hope.  So come along, and bring anyone who might be interested in helping, and find out more about how you can help with this very important project. 10. East Central Illinois Refugee Mutual Assistance Center

The purpose of the East Central Illinois Refugee Mutual Assistance Center is to aid in the resettlement of refugees and immigrants, regardless of country or origin, in the east-central Illinois area and to aid in the exchange and preservation of their respective cultures.  They have a variety of volunteer opportunities - bilingual volunteers are always welcome!  To find out more about this agency call (217) 344-8455.
