 Good morning,



This is Vaneitta Goines, the new director of the Office of Volunteer
Programs (OVP) at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). I hope
to meet you and your staff as I conduct site visits throughout the new
academic year to familiarize myself with our campus and community agency
partners. I also invite you to stop by and visit my office in 288 Illini

I am writing now because of our volunteer fair, which is September 8, 2010
from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Illini Union, Illini Rooms ABC. Each year, UIUC
offers community agencies and student service organizations the opportunity
to host a table from which you could explain your volunteer needs to the
groups of students attending the fair. Registration to host a table can be
done online by visiting the OVP website at:
http://www.union.illinois.edu/ovp/AgencyRegistration.aspx. *Registration
should be completed by September 1.* *Tables are issued on a first come,
first served basis until all available slots are filled.* More than half of
our available table space has been filled. If you have specific questions,
you may contact myself using the information above or Niki Bornes, the OVP
graduate assistant at (217) 333-7424 ovp at illinois.edu. OVP provides
registered agencies with a table and two chairs. Any table covers, displays,
pamphlets, etc., must be provided by your organization. Please send email if
electricity is required, as limited electrically-accessible slots are
available.



With over 150 first-year students taking part in our successful ServiceFirst
event during their first weekend on campus, and hundreds more students
participating in Quad Day sign-ups requesting information on volunteer
opportunities, we expect several hundred students to attend the fair. This
is an excellent opportunity for you to meet and greet a large number of
potential volunteers. It also offers the chance to explain directly to
interested students what your current volunteer needs are. For more

If you have already submitted your registration, you will receive a
confirmation this week with updated information, and a tip sheet on making
your volunteer fair experience a successful one. I apologize if you are
receiving a duplicate copy of the notification, but we wanted to ensure that
all of our previous contacts from multiple mailing lists were reached.

I am open to suggestions and ideas regarding both new volunteer service
opportunities and ways to strengthen the effectiveness of our
campus-community service partnerships.
