[IMC-US] Admin trainings - who wants one? and when?

The basic administration tasks of the site are promoting, editing, and sometimes
creating features. In the past, this happens somewhat spuratically. Now, with
our resolved feature process, it should in theory happen every six hours.

This is would mean 4 times in a 24-hour day, one of the 29 people with admin
power needs to take 15 minutes to post a new feature and propose a new one to
the list (if someone hasn't made a proposal already).

These tasks are seriously a cinch. Often, they only take 5 minutes, if that.

There are several pages of step-by-step instructions on our wiki:
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/ImcUsAdminInterAction

But I know that that's not the best way to learn for many (myself included,
though it helps to have a cheat sheet).

Let's set up regular online admin trainings. US site volunteers are already
supposed to meet twice monthly online. How about we make one of those meetings
just always a tech training/assistance period?

Our next meeting is scheduled for Sunday, August 21 at 4pm Eastern (if I recall
correctly. Would that work for folks?

Regardless and in the meantime, people can always ask at least me for help with
stuff like this. Send me an email, look for me online
(http://chat.indymedia.org -- in the #indymedia and #us rooms), or give me a
call here in Richmond: 804.307.7612. Seriously. I'd love to help and I'm
charming on the phone ;). As long as we're both in front of computers, walking
someone through these tasks is a breeze.

Don't wait until your city's burning with indymedia news or when your feed is
down. Call me when you have a free moment so you'll know how to use the US site
when you do desperately need it.

X,
M.
