[IMC-US] what we want from indyconference

hi,
i would like to second bht's comments about vision. i have been reading anything i can get on on movement building and how movements succeed and how we achieve our goals. and imagining what it is we want and sharing our visions and collectively visioning, is critical to that process. in freedom dreams, the black radical imagination (book by kelley), he talks about how knowing and sharing the world we want in concrete and abstract is a key piece to any of our efforts toward change.

i also would like to see us talk about strategy and how we're working as a network. some time for serious reflection. what is working and what isn't working. what can we easily change and what can't we change.

some people have said they think indymedia as a network is a plateau and is "stuck". is this true and what does it mean? how do we grow as a network in a way that is consistent with our vision and principles. how do we increase our ability to collaborate with each other.

what's the next steps in terms of open publishing? do we need a conversation about the technology and what kind of product we're sharing with the community?

since i'm rambling here, i'd also love us to talk about how we're collaborating or not with our allies (along the full spectrum of allies) and that means in social justice and media reform. what's our role as media makers and independent media developers with the media reform & democracy & justice movement(s). how can we strengthen that relationship?

vision, strategy, where do we want to be in 5-10 years, where are we really NOW in order to understand how to move toward those visions.....

much peace,
excited to see folks face to face
