Scholarships Available for National Conference for Media Reform - Deadline
Extended

The National Conference for Media Reform, to take place May 13-15 in St.
Louis, will provide a forum to discuss and mobilize for solutions to the
problems of our media.

In order to maximize the range of voices represented at the conference,
Free Press is offering travel scholarships and registration fee waivers to
offset attendance costs for individuals who would otherwise be unable to
attend. We will use an application process to award scholarships. Please
go to www.freepress.net/conference/=scholarship to learn more and apply.
The deadline has been extended to March 15. Free Press is committed to
supporting increased participation by people from constituencies
traditionally under-represented in media policy work (including people of
color, women, youth, GLBT, labor and grassroots activist constituencies).
We also seek broad geographic representation. We will prioritize
scholarship applications from individuals who contribute to the diversity
of conference participants.

The National Conference for Media Reform will bring together over a
thousand activists, educators, policymakers, journalists, artists,
scholars and concerned citizens for three days of learning, sharing,
networking and momentum-building.

Participants will:

* Learn about media policy and discuss visions for a more democratic media
system in the United States;

* Build skills for media reform activism;

* Discover "who's doing what" in various sectors of media reform activism
and hear about models for successful campaigns;

* Discuss goals and strategies for advancing positive media policy and
bringing the public into media policymaking;

* Network and meet others interested in media reform.

The conference will include dozens of panels and workshops on media
consolidation, grassroots activism, globalization, independent media,
commercialism, community Internet and much more. For more information,
see www.freepress.net/conference.

We hope to see you in St. Louis!
