This was written to Cope and copied to me and the WEFT PC. Many of the
suggestions Kim gives pertain the other IMC members - the people who
recorded the forum and the the people who wrote the news shorts. Cope, I
hope you don't mind that I'm sending this along to the IMC for these
reasons.

Good job on the show yesterday Cope!

thanks,
danielle

Hi, Cope.
I listened to your program last night on issues facing Urbana School
District 116. It was fantastic! Not having kids myself, I had not paid too
much attention to the problems. Your program gave me a good grasp of some
of the issues. The strengths of last night's show include the diversity of
speakers and your set-up of the speakers' themselves (i.e. putting them in
context). You did a great job of reminding listeners often about what they
were listening to and where they were listening. Your blurp about yourself
and why you chose to focus on this issues was also good. Your program last
night was a really good example of how WEFT can play a strong role in
giving listeners access to issues and voices that affect their lives. Good
work!
Since the program was so good, I feel that I should nit pick about a few
things:
* Please remember to read the outro statement in the red underwriting book
after you play Free Speech Radio News, and give the legal i.d. right after
that.
* The reading of the local news headlines is a good idea but the execution
could be improved. Perhaps two voices instead of one could alternate
between stories. I found myself drifting off and I was trying hard to
listen. The writing could also be a little tighter.
* You said several times that this was a "rebroadcast" of a forum held last
Saturday at the King School. Unless I am mistaken, I believe this was the
first time WEFT aired the program so it's not a rebroadcast but a broadcast
of the panel held last week.
* The recording of the speakers was a little noisy. I heard rumble. I am
not sure how the voices were recorded but it didn't sound like the speakers
were talking directly into a microphone hooked up to the IMC's recording
equipment. I'd have to know more about the situation to be able to offer
any real suggestions.

Again, these are points that would help polish an already good presentation
and program (except for number one which is a WEFT requirement). Overall, a
great job. Thank you.
I have copied the PC on this email. Other members of the committee may have
heard the program too and may have feedback for you.
Happy Holidays!
Kimberlie
