hi all

the other day, i started cooking up an agenda template, specifically for
the NEWS COLLECTIVE working group. perhaps others are doing the same? i
post it to the general list since maybe some other working group(s) [or
maybe the group as a whole...] will find it useful to adapt to their own
subversive purposes.

here's a draft of the template:

I. Introductions
	1. NEW FACES and THEIR PROJECTS, FIRST!
	2. Repeat-attendees and their interests, BRIEFLY.

II. ASSIGNMENTS for the UPCOMING WEEK
	1. events and volunteers for coverage
	2. broadcast/publication opportunities
	3. deadlines ?

III. WEEK in REVIEW
	1. broadcasts and publications
	2. web site
	3. syndication/mainstream media outreach/etc.

IV. ONGOING PROJECTS PULSE-CHECK
	1. resource co-op? equipment/tools/info/funding?
	2. calls for collaboration or work-load hand-off.
	3. projected finish-date changes?

THE FOUR ABOVE COULD (optimistically) take 5-7 minutes each, which would
leave time for:

V. Big Topic to discuss. BUDGET?
				NEEDS?
				VISION?
				MISSION?
				PRINCIPLES?
				PRIORITIES?

POSSIBLE "BIG TOPICS" for the 2/4/01 meeting and beyond: 1. WHO WILL BE
OUR EMPOWERED SPOKES to the STEERING COMMITTEE, if the general meeting
passes the pending organizational statement? 2. HOW CAN the NEWS
COLLECTIVE make its work A REVENUE GENERATOR for the IMC? 3. does our
news collective want to be represented by a union? 4. how is the news we
gather and publish DIFFERENT from the mainstream? what aspects of
"PROFESSIONAL JOURNALISM" or "JOURNALISTIC PROFESSIONALISM" do we want to
keep and what do we want to discard? 5. will our News Collective sponsor
an attendee in Quebec City in April?

----------

hope this helps.
