Hi Walter et al.,

I fully support your efforts to create a response to the pro-chief
billboards. For the production of the stickers to be IMC sponsored (thus
allowing donor contributions to be tax-deductible) it would have to be
accepted by the steering committee (I do not have the authority to say
o.k.). I've cc-ed the IMC list so that this will be discussed at this
Sunday's Noontime meeting. I will just add that an anti-chief response is
in keeping with the IMC's social justice goals of non-discrimination,
anti-racism, and protection of minority rights.

The most important thing for the IMC is that we would be sponsoring the
initiative knowing only that the stickers will be used for legal
purposes. While we cannot be held responsible for the actions of everyone
who receives these stickers, if the IMC knows ahead of time that they will
be used for illegal purposes than we will not be able to be a sponsor of
the sticker production efforts (as it would threaten our non-profit status).

The accounting would not be a problem -- I would set up a class account
that would earmark money raised for the effort and all bills would be
subtracted from this total. If the donor checks are clearly labeled this
will be simple, and I would be able to pay bills directly out of this account.

Thanks for the interest and please come to this Sunday's meeting to discuss
this issue,
