WEFTies and IMCers,

An independent radio station is in need of help. Some of you may have advise
to offer. Others of you might want to cover this as a story for one of
WEFT's public affairs programs. See email below.

> My name is Sarah Travelstead and I am a student at Northern Illinois
> University. I am writing this email to ask for your help. The Resident
> Hall Association, along with many other sponsors, are putting together a
> free concert / battle of the bands called the "Corporate Rawk Fest 2002",
> featuring bands such as Swizzle Tree, ATM, The Red Hot Valentines, Bicycle
> Day, plus many, many more. The purpose of this concert is to help save
> our college radio station from being bought out and re-formatted to what
> "they" want to hear. The reason we are against this is because for years
> college radio has been the place to hear independent, local and free
> music. This type of music would no longer be able to be promoted if such
> a change occurred, for example, changing the current station to an
> Urban/Top 40 station.
> I am asking for your help to support our cause by announcing the concert

> Here is the time and place of the event:
> Corporate Rawk Fest / BATTLE OF THE BANDS
> The fight to save college radio
> Date:	April 5th
> Time: Noon to 11pm
> Location: Northern Illinois University - Central Park (In between
> Residence Halls)
