The DC Shorts Film Festival and Screenplay Competition is the largest short film
 event on the East Coast. In our 10th year, we plan on showcasing 150 films from
 around the globe - including the largest collection of Russian short films to ever
be screened in the U.S. Hundreds of filmmakers and thousands of audience members
 to mix, mingle and explore the art of short cinema.

DC Shorts is open to filmmakers around the world. Last year, we received hundreds
of submissions from 47 nations and showcased 140 films and 6 screenplays from 27
 countries in 18 unique showcases to a combined audience of over 8,300 people.

DC Shorts Film Festival

DC Shorts turns the spotlight on truly independent short films, created by new and
established filmmakers in an era when the art of filmmaking is opening to everyone.
We select films from every genre for our competition screenings - with a special
 focus on films created by metropolitan Washington, DC-based directors and writers.
We accept films up to 20 minutes in every genre and style.

DC Shorts Screenplay Competition

A very unique script competition where six finalists are selected, cast and directed
for a live table reading. The audience and jury select a winner and one lucky writer
walks away with a $2,000 prize and automatic entry into DC Shorts 2014.
