But you and I both know we should never take favorable biking  conditions for granted.
When I ride, I'm always ready for inclement weather. As  President of the League,
I'm on the alert for all kinds of obstacles to the  needs and rights of cyclists
 like you.

For instance:


* The National Bike Challenge helped inspire  more than 30 thousand people to ride
over 12 million miles in 2012. Many were new riders who now  share our enthusiasm
and increase the number of voices speaking out for  bicyclists. Next year, with 
your help, 50 thousand people will join our ranks  and ride 20 million miles.
* Bicycle commuting in the biggest Bicycle Friendly  Communities has increased a
  whopping 80% since the year 2000. Imagine how wonderful biking would be across
  the country if together we could gain similar results in every  community!
* Thousands of everyday cyclists learn how to  ride more safely through our Smart
Cycling program. If we get enough additional dollars  from members like you, we 
will expand the program and certify an additional 400  instructors. That would mean
thousands fewer bicycling accidents, injuries, and  deaths.

* Gain increased funding for biking initiatives  at the state and local levels,
