Thanks to everyone who turned out for our Workday yesterday. We had a
great turnout - check out details of what we achieved below.

We've left the list of recurring tasks on the studio noticeboard. If
you haven't already signed up for a task or two, please do so. We've
got volunteers for quite a number of important tasks, but there are
still lots of small (and some larger) tasks that we need people to
take responsibility for. To borrow a slogan, the station works because
you do - we need each member to play their part in the off-air work of
the station.

The workday was was a great success, and thanks to the good turnout we:
- Recorded numerous new IDs and promos for use on air
- Edited several of those promos, ready to go into automation
- Finalized an Underwriting brochure
- Established a list of businesses and organizations to approach for
underwriting support
- Painted the studio walls (I especially like the pale blue on the
south wall)
- Installed a cabinet in studio for storing our public file and
Working Group materials
- Moved the Public File and other station materials from the Vault to
the studio
- Tidied the studio, generally, removing some extraneous materials
- Located a door for use in the cabinet we will construct in the main
space
- Installed CD racks on the East wall, for storing Local Music in a
prominent position in studio
- Constructed a mail-slot, for music donations, PSA requests, etc.,
which will shortly be installed on the wall beside the studio door.
- Moved the white-board to the south wall of the station, beside the
window.
- Moved the station log to hang from the side of the desk
- Removed the guest script tray (temporarily). It will be lacquered
and replaced in the near future
- Moved some CDs from the temporary storage space (by the ramp on the
south side of the building) to empty shelving in the studio
- I'm sure there are other completed tasks which I'm blanking on right
now....

Separately, some Alternative Spring Break volunteers who have been
working with the IMC have done some work on entering the station music
library into a database which will, eventually, be merged with the
IMC's general library database.

There will be another smaller workday next Saturday, to construct the
cabinet in the main space. This cabinet will store our EAS printer and
automation computer, helping us achieve our promise to remove these
from their current location in the Production Room. If you're
available, please let me know. We could do with another 2-3 people for
this project.

Once the cabinet is constructed, we will be moving the EAS printer and
automation computer to the cabinet. We will need some assistance with
this process, as it will involve re-wiring the links between these
pieces of equipment and studio. This work will feed into our plan to
check and document the entirety of our air-chain, as well as allowing
us to train volunteers in a variety of Tech issues. Check the RFU-tech
list for news of plans here.
