Wow, it's been a great week for fundraising here at WRFU. Our online
pledge challenge raised $665 from 13 individuals, in just over a week.
Then last night, we raised $900 from entry fees at the benefit at Mike
'n' Molly's. And a further $125 in t-shirt sales.
That's $1,690 in a single week. I'll be calculating the exact numbers
in the near future, but it should put us at around $17,000 in our
Tower Fund. That's fantastic. Our goal is $20,000, so we're very much
within sight of the end.
See below for more details of how we're going to get over the top. But
first:
Thanks to everyone who contributed, and to everyone who turned up at
our benefit concert. Thanks in particular to Aimee Rickman, who put so
much time and effort into organizing our last two benefits, to Brian
Mertz, for his donation challenge, to Mike Lehman, who has been so
central to the WRFU project, and to Jodi Blumenfeld, who was a one-
person t-shirt-selling machine last night.
So, how are we going to complete this campaign?
- We have launched a Facebook campaign, aimed at getting small
donations from as many individuals as possible, with the hope of a
snowball effect. The group is "I donated $5 to WRFU's Tower Fund."
We're asking people to make a small donation online (wrfu.net/donate)
and then to join the group, and to invite their friends to join. If
you're on Facebook, go here:

(If you're not on Facebook, your donations are always welcome at
wrfu.net/donate)
- We're launching an underwriting program at WRFU. In the coming weeks
we'll be approaching local businesses and organizations for support.
If you know a group that might be interested in underwriting at WRFU,
or if you are interested in learning more, please let me know.
- We're also exploring some other fundraising opportunities. Stay tuned!
