[Imc-radio] a possible tip, a possible scoop?

I'm sending this to radio, video, print, and newsroom because I
suspect that lots of people are not subscribed to newsroom. Any
reporters that want to hear about tips on possible stories should
subscribe to newsroom. That is our, underutilized, central clearing
house for underdeveloped story ideas.

Email me if you want to work on a story about the proposed Urbana
Walmart.

An anonymous tipster stopped by the IMC today with a lead on a story
about the proposed Urbana Walmart. I have no idea if the tip is true
or false or somewhere in between. I have a name and an
assertion. Someone needs to call this person up and verify the
assertion. There might be a story here. We might be able to beat other
news outlets to the punch if they aren't paying attention. I have
reason to believe that the tipster in question knows what s/he's
talking about.

In the interests of not spreading possibly false rumors on open
mailing lists please email me if you are interested in researching
this and I will share the name and the assertion.

All it takes to follow up on this story is a few phone calls. I don't
think I have time to act quickly on this right now so it'd be great if
someone else could.
