FSRN Producer
Job description:  Produce news reports to run on the daily broadcast of FSRN.


Duties include:
1) Surveying news events for possible assignments (read wires, activist
e-mails, internet news sites, AP daybooks)
2) Participating in daily morning editorial phone conference with Host and
Headlines Producer to coordinate coverage
3) Receiving and responding to reporter e-mail and telephone pitches
4) Recruiting reporters for stories which have not been pitched
5) Editing reporters’ scripts, giving constructive feedback, and making sure
their stories are in by deadline
6) Sending leads to Host
7) Listening to entire newscast and give feedback to reporters and staff
8) Planning upcoming coverage

Qualifications for the position include:

1) At least one year's experience producing news/public affairs programming.
2) Understanding of Free Speech Radio News’ editorial approach
3) Excellent organizational skills

4) The ability to work collectively and cooperatively, at a distance from key
colleagues and under the direction of rank and file leadership

5) The ability to work quickly and calmly under deadline pressure


This is a full-time position. Pay is $3168.50 a month.
