Subject: Possible Awards for FSRN Reporters and an update on photos

Hi-

I just wanted to share some tax info re the 1099's. If you were paid 600.00
or more from FSRN in the year 2003, then you should have received your 1099 by
now. If you have not and you feel that you should have, please feel free to
check with me :)

thanks and have a great day!

Hi FSRN Reporters--

When you are sending photos if you can try and send photos "that
"show" you reporting in the field or at a radio station.

--radio station name in background
--sign saying "Free Speech Radio News in India (or whatever country)"
in background
--sitting in front of a microphone with headphones on
--conducting a live interview
--an event you are covering (be sure to tell us what the event is)
--an especially striking scene

Please tell us something about the photo. Even if the photo is very
plain, we'd like to use the label you create for it.

Thanks

2004 Criminal Justice Fellowships

Criminal Justice Fellowships will be awarded this year
to six journalists
committed to producing in-depth stories about "crime
and punishment" issues such
as mandatory minimum sentences, prison conditions or
the return of released
prisoners to communities. The Institute for Justice and
Journalism at the
University of Southern California's Annenberg School
for Communication seeks
applications from experienced print, television and
radio journalists across the
United States. Successful candidates will spend a week
(June 6-12, 2004) in Los
Angeles with criminal justice experts. Fellows will be
expected to complete
in-depth stories of a quality that will enable USC
Annenberg's Institute for
Justice and Journalism to use them as learning and
reporting tools for journalists
and journalism students. They will return to Los
Angeles in the fall of 2004
to review and critique their journalistic projects with
their editors and
fellowship colleagues. In addition to covering all
expenses for the June and fall
2004 sessions, USC Annenberg's Institute for Justice
and Journalism will pay
each fellow a stipend of $1,500 upon completion of the
fellowship project, and
provide up to $1,000 to cover travel and other expenses
related to the
reporting for the project. Additional information and
application materials are
available at the Institute for Justice and Journalism's
website,
www.justicejournalism.org or can be requested via
e-mail at ijj at usc.edu
