[UCIMC-Tech] computer parts

I need to point out for the Tech group that we need to be involved in
any equipment donations for two reasons.

First, we can't take unfiltered boxes of equipment because we can't be
someone's junkyard. One of us literally needs to be present to
physically sort through equipment to tell the donor what we can take
and what we can't.

Second, we should be involved to prevent situations like this one. If
a member of the Tech group had been present to intake the donation,
one of us would be in a position to send the donor a thank you note.
In this case, the donation appears to have been handed down to various
parties within the IMC and the donor's identity was lost.

I will send a thank you note if we can confirm the donation I
processed is indeed from Kirchner Law office and someone can give me
the contact info for Kirchner. The donation included mice, keyboards,
hard disks, Iomega removable storage, odds & ends and many video, USB
and Firewire cables. I found it in six or seven filing boxes by the
refrigerator in the IMC.

In the future, when anyone has contact with a possible technical
equipment donor, please forward them directly to someone in the Tech
group.
