[UCIMC-Tech] [Imc-bookkeeper] Remote Access for Bookkeeper/Treasurer

On the issue of the perceived delay in providing remote access to the
bookkeeper computer:

This wasn't possible before Brian rebuilt the Finance computer. Since
that has happened, Brian has been waiting for Joy and whoever needed
remote access to take the next step.

As I recall, Brian sent a message last week asking about scheduling a
time in reply to Joy's request above.

Joy, Wayne, when are you available?
Brian, how long will the process take approximately and do Joy and
Wayne need to bring in their laptops?

Brian, please move this setup to the top of your list.
I'd also ask others to be flexible and refrain from DEMANDING things
get done immediately. It really doesn't help.

Finally, I'd like to throw in a word of caution about remote access
and computer security, given the enormous amount of support time that
Brian Duggan put in recovering and rebuilding the Finance computer:
- There are clear indications that the Finance computer, prior to
crashing, was infected with spyware.
- Please be aware that work done on IMC computers, particularly those
running Windows, are vulnerable to spyware, malware, and viruses.
- No one should be doing personal browsing or downloading non-work
files to the Finance computers. If you want to do this, use the public
computing workstations or bring in your own computer.

- How does this relate to remote access?
We will want to inspect whatever computer you're going to use to
connect remotely and make sure it has Antivirus software installed and
that it's working properly.
