[UCIMC-Tech] Website Newswires Not Updating, etc

It is sort of related. The database on the site is so huge that it makes it
a problem to migrate. I updated the site a few weeks back to ensure that it
would be secure, but problems remain. Creating content (such as events for
the calendar) gives a WSOD now, and the site really need to have a Mollom
paid subscription if we're going to continue supporting anonymous posting.
There have been several instances of spam comments when the free
subscription is overwhelmed. Cron is definitely not running automatically.
The CiviCRM add-on is also messed up- I attempted an upgrade a while back
and it removed the top Civi Menu, and recently I checked the old donation
form which appeared to be broken as well.

Rather than focus on these small issues like whether the global newswire is
updating, we really need to gather a group of editors and admins to decide
what to do for an upgrade to the site. Kristina W began working on this as
an americorps member. As I see it, we need:
- a relevant news site that preserves the open publishing component of the
current site
- a separate organizational website about the IMC
- people to manage the sites and maintain them

I'm open to being a part of this group if anyone else is willing. My guess
from past experience- no one will step up and will just continue to expect
volunteer techies to fix or build things. This is entirely unsustainable.
