I think the article should be deleted. 

We may even be in violation of the law if we do not delete content
when it's own author requests it. Even if we aren't, this is just a
case where the right thing to do is delete it. The only question would
be whether or not this person really is the author of the piece but I
think in this case that it is pretty clear that he is. 

We shouldn't blindly accept every deletion request, but rather should
put some thought into whether we're being scammed into deleting
something by someone other than the real author.
