Decision 2000 was definitely sour grapes after the voting was done, and
hence I explain my feelings by my poem called "Recounts".

                     RECOUNTS

Is it going to be Bush?
Is it going to be Gore?
Is it going to be Gore?
Is it going to be Bush?
It's Bush...
No! It's Gore...

Gosh!....

I and my friend,
Michele from France,
Expected a speedy election
For President and Vice-President
Of the United States.
As we watched on TV the election results
Of Decision 2000
In the Illini Union guest room,
We thought it was all over
At midnight.

Michele didn't know much
About American politics,
But because I loved
Al Gore's leading of
The Macarena
At the DNC in Chicago,
I am choosing Gore,
Though I won't have time
To vote for him.

The electoral college tally for Bush went past
The 271 mark
For what it looked like
A cakewalk for the GOP candidate...
But then...

ROADBLOCKS!!!!

There were wrenches--
Awful wrenches
That put the election
Into an agonizing....
STALEMATE!!!!
First there was the focus on Florida,
Then the problem with the absentee ballots,
Then the absentee ballots from overseas,
And the ballots which people mistakenly punched Buchanan instead of Gore,
And...the CHADS!

Then they started the recounts,
Followed by more recounts,
Followed still by even more recounts...
RECOUNTS! RECOUNTS! Hey!...

Enough is enough!
I hope that all of this is over
by January
 and I hope Gore...
Wins!
