bow down
to fifty conveyor belts
fifty beeping scanners
fifty cash registers
and fifty simultaneous instances
of wealth on the move
from the hands
of working families
through the hands
of shy
minimum wage
cashiers
wearing bulls-eyes on their red shirt-fronts
into the hands
of dayton
hudson
or whichever of their monied cronies
survives today
for it is
the sacred capitalist relay
performed in
biblical proportions
