[Newspoetry] The Pitfalls of CNN Coverage

"Third largest trucking company shuts down"
Read the CNN headline
The story lay on my monitor
Like a piece of cheese
On a sidewalk too long
On a hot summer's day
Always weak on labor reporting
The reporter struggled with
A story only a capitalist
Could laugh at
On a Labor Day weekend

Workers chuckled to themselves, though
Not believing how stupid reporters
(Particularly those of the CNN variety)
Are when they cover news
That really affects working families
For what did appear
But another glaring discrepancy
Between the news
And real life
Never mind the error of the use of the present tense
Which is but a minor part of the problem
When speaking of the defunct

CNN wrote,
[Consolidated Freightways]
"also offers trucking to
Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean."

anti-spam wrote,
"Only CNN would have us believe that 'trucking' is possible
to 'Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.'
Or is that why CF failed?
The trucks kept sinking."
