I've never seen figures I believe regarding black voter registration and voting. The thing that makes it tricky is that black folks in town have more children than white (we're about a tenth black but the city schools are about a third black). To have a meaningful figure of registration or voting rates, it isn't fair to calculate it from simple population.

Some of the highest voting rates by population are from the Urbana wards near the university. But there are few children in these wards, so this is no surprise.

So I don't even know if black political participation is lower than white or not.
