Sorry I am so late in forwarding this, but I just found this email from the College Democrats asking for co-sponsorship on their flag-planting memorial scheduled for Monday April 2, 2007.

>Dear AWARE members,
> My name is Allison Lale and as the Vice President of College Democrats I'm contacting you about an event we are trying to plan. We want to create a large memorial to remind our student body and community of the toll the Iraq War has taken. The center of our protest will be the purchasing of ~3500 hand-held size American flags, one for each US troop death. Mailing labels (each with a name, hometown, date of loss) will be attached, one to each flag. We are currently submitting a space request to reserve grounds on the quad for planting all the flags (outside the Henry Admin. Building, tentatively Monday April 2nd). Along with this, we plan to set up a table for writing letters to our representatives and a display with additional statistics on the war (US fatalities/ month, Iraqi Deaths, etc.). I'm contacting all the groups I think would be in support of this event for two reasons:
>1. The flags cost $500 and my group isn't willing to foot more than $200 for this event
>2. Sponsors add legitimacy/attention to the event and solidarity between groups that commit to a common cause
>
>If your group is willing to co-sponsor we would greatly appreciate the support. If in addition, you can assist us in funding this event (any size donation!) that will ensure we can continue planning it. Please respond to this e-mail, just so I know if AWARE is at all interested. Thank you for your time.

> Allison Lale
>
>p.s. If you know anyone/any group that may be interested in our event, please forward this e-mail on to them!
