[Peace-discuss] O fakes left, goes right on nuclear weapons

Obama's usual rhetorical ploy is on display in his Prague speech:

   [1] he says he wants to eliminate nuclear weapons

(which the US is already committed to by the NPT treaty of more than 40
years ago -- but the US has effectively rejected all attempts of
international control of those countries that have n-weapons, for 60 years);

   [2] but he says it won't happen in his lifetime

(reducing total numbers means military spending can be shifted to COIN
wars, but remember that when n-weapons were used, there were exactly two
in the world: reduction doesn't mean much);

   [3] so the real goal is to 'fight proliferation'

(i.e., keep countries not under our control from getting n-weapons; more
importantly, use the scare tactic ["Iran will have the bomb!"] to
mobilize opposition to countries we oppose for other reasons -- notably
Iran, over its opposition to US control of the ME).
