May 1 plans to "Funk the Wars" on campus are still on, but the timing
may have to change.

If anyone can help out with the sound systems, that would be wonderful.

Hey all, important (and plan changing news) about Funk the Wars

Another group has already reserved the "amplified sound" space on the
Quad from 12-1 for May 1st, meaning that we will not be able to hold
Funk the Wars then.

BUT FEAR NOT!

The University's policy about amplified sound is that after 5pm, any
amplified sound is OK anywhere.  Thus, I would propose keeping Funk
the Wars on the same day but pushing back the time until 5pm.  Not
only will this allow us to still funk the wars on May Day, but it
actually frees us up to do a lot more than we would normally be able
to do; we can keep the rally going longer than an hour if necessary,
which means we might be able to get some bands to play, if any are
willing.

HOWEVER

This does mean there is a bit more work for us to do.  First, we will
not be given a sound system; rather, we will either have to scrounge
one up, or rent one from the University (for "an arm and a leg"
according to woman I spoke to in the RSO office).  Andrew, I think you
were telling me that someone in the GEO had access to a mic and
speakers?  Or even just a mic?  I know I have an amp in my apartment,
and there are outlets on the Quad (I think), but if anyone has any
sound equipment, please start looking!

The other option we have is to move the rally to a different date,
sometime next week.  Wednesday is booked, but we can have it Monday or
Tuesday.  My concerns for that are 1. it's not May Day and 2. it's
getting very close to finals.  I know w are all in crunch time now
with work and all, but holding the rally on Friday means there is
still the weekend to catch up on work (and having it at five actually
means that having class shouldn't stop people from coming).

What are people's feelings about this change of plans?  Does 5pm sound
good, or would we rather change the date?

Hope life is going well for everyone, and that school isn't crushing
your souls yet =)

Peace
