J.N. said he and his brother used to sleep in the dust out in their yard at night to get cool.
Mud evaporates better and thus cools better than plain sweat.
They didnt have lawns in southern IL in the 30's., just packed clay that they swept clean.
(and they didnt have yard police either, so it was not all bad.)
