Vicky Gray Adams will be in-residence at Unit One/Allen Hall, October
14-20. Her opening program, "A New World Order for Some or A New World for
All?" will take place Monday, October 15, 8pm in the South Rec Room of
Allen Hall, 1005 W. Gregory, Urbana. She will be speaking and leading
discussions on various topics every evening throughout the week. See below
for a full schedule. A full schedule will also be posted at

information. All programs are open to the public.

Vicky Gray Adams has been working for civil and human rights for over six
decades. She made historic contributions to the civil rights movement of
the sixties as a member of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee,
one of the founders and leaders of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic
Party, as a member of the National Board of the Southern Christian
Leadership Conference and as the first woman (of any color or community)
in the history of Mississippi to run for the office of US Senator. She is
featured in numerous Civil Rights films, documentaries, and books. Her
personal motto is "Life shrinks or expands in direct proportion to the
courage with which we live it."
