The Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center will be in-residence at Unit
One/Allen Hall, 2/25-3/1. Their opening program, "Birth of a Revolution: An
Introduction to the Indymedia Movement" will take place, Monday, February 25 at
8pm in the South Rec Room of Allen Hall, 1005 W. Gregory, Urbana. They will be
giving talks and workshops on independent media, citizen journalism, and media
production all week. A complete schedule of their events will be posted at

Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center is a grassroots collective that
provides a forum for community members to voice issues, ideas, and opinions
that are underrepresented in the dominant media. The IMC offers tools,
training, and support for the production and distribution of these
underrepresented perspectives. Since its inception, the IMC has produced
hundreds of news pieces in print, audio, and video for its local website
(urbana.indymedia.org), the Public I, and many local news venues. The IMC has a
storefront space in downtown Urbana which houses media production facilities, a
newsstand, a library and media archive, meeting facilities, a concert venue,
and an art gallery. Their motto is “Become the Media.”
