Some events today and tomorrow:

  Tue 1/27  noon-1pm   UofI Quad (S. side of Illini Union)
	Rally in support of Gaza!

  Tue 1/27  7pm-9pm    Siebel (Computer Science) bldg, room 1404 (near Goodwin & Main)
	"Palestinian Occupation: Myth and Reality"
	Two visiting activists will speak.

  Wed 1/28  10am-4pm   Illini Union room "B"
	Display of many posters, from American Muslims for Palestine,
	showing the plight of the Palestinians, including recent
	photographs from Gaza.   These same posters were on display
	at last Sundays' Islamic Relief fundraiser.

	    "Beyond Jihad: New Directions in Muslim Fundamentalist Thought,"

	Professor Sherman A. Jackson, Arthur F. Thurnau Professor of
	Near Eastern Studies, Professor of Afro-American Studies, and
	Visiting Professor of Law at the University of Michigan

	"Professor Sherman A. Jackson will examine what may turn out
	to be one of the most important (though as yet little-known)
	developments in contemporary Muslim thought to emerge since
	the emergence of Muslim fundamentalism itself: the ideological
	evolution of the (in)famous Gama'ah Islamiyah of Egypt and its
	move from terrorism to persuasion."

	Professor Jackson is the author of "Islam and the Blackamerican:
	Looking Toward The Third Resurrection," New York: Oxford
	University Press, 2005. He also is a member of the editorial
	board for "The Journal of Islamic Law and Culture" at DePaul
	University, Chicago.
