Aware film outing:
South of the Border is showing at the Art Theater in Champaign
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 7:30pm
I am planning to go and would love company. Any of the evenings is

Description of the film:
Oliver Stone goes on a political tour of South America, interviewing
its new wave of socialist leaders in an eye-opening documentary.

Monday, Andrew Orta
Andrew Orta is Associate Professor of Anthropology and Director of the
Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of
Illinois. A current project is focused on the impact of processes of
neoliberal political decentralization on the reproduction of local
community institutions and identities.

Tuesday, 7:30 Robert Naiman
Robert Naiman is Policy Director at Just Foreign Policy and writes on
U.S. foreign policy at Huffington Post. He has has worked as a policy
analyst and researcher at the Center for Economic and Policy Research
and Public Citizen's Global Trade Watch.

Wednesday: Cristobal Valencia Ramirez
Cristobal Valencia Ramirez is a graduate student whose work focuses on
the role of grassroots political actors in processes of state
formation and establishing democracy. He has conducted more than eight
years of collaborative research with supporters of Venezuelan
President Chavez (the Chavistas).
