Hi all,

A little reminder about tomorrow night's figure-it-out-a-thon.  Meetings to Make Oddmusic in 2010 - Monday 1/25 & Monday 2/1, both from 5:30 to 7pm in room 21A of th Independent Media Center!  Join us for project clouding & calendar fun.  So many things can happen in 2010, & let's start talking about them & putting together whos whats & hows.

Hi friends of Oddmusic,

Jacob & Andrew founded a something called ODDMUSIC URBANA-CHAMPAIGN some months ago to create a base for experimental socially-conscious music-making.  We don't claim to "be" Oddmusic, but I do claim to have an interest in music-making wherein:
	* there are attempts to make something happen that is new
	* there is an analysis of th social dynamics in which a piece lives (its environment)
	* there is an attempt to avoid a familiar language that can be understood in an old wayThus, Oddmusic is a Utopian project, & nothing less than that.  When I use th word, I wish to speak of intentional design toward th desirable -- in music-making.  Oddmusic, as I use it, is not th same as odd music.

ODDMUSIC URBANA-CHAMPAIGN functions as a nest for projects.  We want to help make connections between projects that fit th criteria of "Oddmusic" in U-C & surrounds.  That can potentially help give th projects coherence, legitimacy, & a voice.

Past projects of Oddmusic have included concerts, workshops, a library of acoustic oddities, dance-togethers, junk-builds, a Microtonal Composition Study Group, music lessons, invitations to compose, conversation groups, an open stage, an archive of scores, a blog, a radio guesting, & a rally-sing....

Some proposed projects for 2010 include: a weekly radio show, a monthly Microtonal Sing, a new online interface for organizing ideas, photography projects, video projects, a concert of music for th udderbot... & what else?

Do you have a project or an idea for a project which can be friends with Oddmusic?  Do you have an interest in helping make Oddmusic happen in 2010?

Jacob & I intend to host at least two Meetings to Make Oddmusic in 2010.  These conversations will take place these next two Monday nights -- January 25 & February 1 -- in th Oddmusic Instrumentarium -- room 21A of th IMC.  Th agenda for th first meeting will look something like:

Monday, January 25, 2010:
5:30-5:40 • pre-meeting schmooze
5:40-6:00 • introductions
6:00-6:20 • project cloud
6:20-6:40 • goaling & making-of-calendar
6:40-7:00 • Oddmusic finances - membership? - & follow-up
7:00-? • post-meeting linger

>From these meetings, we'll have ideas about What We're Going to Do, Who Is Going To Do It, & When It Will Happen.  We'll start a Calendar, a Discussion List (an email list specifically for planning -- separate from th Oddmusic Announce list), & we'll give away our power to call things Oddmusic.  We'll have th means to follow up, to change our minds, to start a new thing, to let sit an old thing, to collaborate.

We could decide to schedule meetings weekly throughout th year, if there's interest in that.  Or bi-weekly.  At this point, I offer two Monday nights as a beginning.

If this sounds of interest, consider yourself invited!  Feel free to let me know in advance if you're coming, but you don't have to.  If these times are totally awful for you but you want to be involved, let me know that too.
Also: feel free to spread th word to others who might want in.  New & not-yet friends are as welcome as old friends.
