1. SPEAK ENGLISH??? YES? Then read on... A family is looking for a tutor
to help their two children (aged 9 and 7) learn English. This is an
opportunity for a single volunteer to have a _major_ impact on the lives
of two little kids. If you're interested in helping, please send an
e-mail to jsc at uiuc.edu or phone: 344-8919.

2. Apply to Teach For America and join the force of leaders committed to
change. FIRST APPLICATION DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 25!!! Teach For America is
the national corps of outstanding recent college graduates of all academic
majors who commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools and
become lifelong leaders in the effort to expand opportunity for children.
Visit www.teachforamerica.org to apply now.

3. Habitat for Humanity of Champaign and Piatt Counties is partnering with
Provena in a Women's Build. Habitat is currently recruiting both skilled
and unskilled women volunteers for this remodeling project. Volunteers
are needed on Saturdays, beginning the end of October through
mid-December. Please contact Habitat for Humanity, 355-6460,
hfhtock at soltec.net for further information.

4. Looking for an exciting and rewarding way to spend your spring break?
Consider Alternative Spring Break (ASB)!!! ASB is sending service trips
to locations throughout the United States. With issues ranging from the
environment to HIV/AIDs to Native American issues, ASB has something for
everyone's interests. To learn more about ASB or to download an
application, visit their web site at www.uiuc.edu/ro/asb, or visit the
Alternative Spring Break cubicle in room 280 Illini Union.

5. Hey this is a great deal. Campbells Chunky soup is donating a can of
soup to various food shelf organizations in each area of an NFL team.
All you need to do is click on the helmet of your favorite team! Right
now the Vikes are #3 but have only half the amount as the #1 team which is
those cheese eaters across the border. Spread the word! Just click on the
"click for cans" promotion and then click on your NFL team or what ever
team represents the area you the food to be donated to.

Warm-A-Kid Drive is here and collecting coats, hats, and gloves for

Programs on 1401 West Green Street in Room 277 in Urbana. Please deliver
items by Monday December 2, 2002 or contact the Family Information Center
at 351-3701 and they will pick it up. If you have any questions please
contact us at 333-7424.

7. What do you do with your pop tabs? "Throw them away" (badness) /
"Recycle them" (better...and yet...) What can you do with your pop tabs?
"Twist them off and save them." Why save them? "Pop tabs can be recycled
for a great cause!" Join the Office of Volunteer Program with the
collection of pop tabs for Persons Assuming Control of their Environment
(PACE, INC). More pop tabs=more money for PACE. If you are interested in
