1.   Interested in the theatre business? Come help at the historic Virginia 
Theatre and learn how the business works! Volunteers are needed to take 
tickets, work as ushers, and work in the concession stands. When the work is 
done, relax and enjoy the show!  If interested, contact Anthony Howell at 
(217) 356-9053.

2.  Volunteer Recognition Event- The Office of Volunteer Programs needs your 
help with our Volunteer Recognition Event on April 24th! 6-8 volunteers are 
needed on Friday, April 23rd (in the afternoon) to help set up the room, and 
6- 10 volunteers are needed on Saturday, April 24th from 10- 2:30 to set up 
and serve the food. If you are interested in helping us out, please contact 
Lindsay Baran at lbaran at uiuc.edu asap!

3.  Canterbury Ridge has volunteer opportunities for the summer and fall and 
you are invited to check us out! We are an Assisted Living facility working 
with seniors.  We would like to get you involved in fun activities with the 
residents, such as calling bingo, walking partners, trivia, happy hour, 
crafts, and much more.... Our main need is help with residents in our memory 
loss program.  They love the variety of people coming in and enjoy activities 
with students in particular! If you play piano or another instrument and would 
like to share your music, let me know!  Our volunteer openings are: Any day 
9-11am or 2-4pm, including weekends.  Please contact Sara Yant if you would

4.  The Multicultural Health Center is looking for volunteers to organize 
patient education materials according to topic and to assist in setting up 
rotating displays on April 23 and April 30.  They are requesting 2-4 hours in 
the morning or afternoon.  If interested, contact Christ Fouse at 265-6267

5.  Best Buddies International is hosting a 3 on 3 tournament to raise money 
for Best Buddies.  Best Buddies is an international organization that fosters 
one-on-one friendships between college students and people in the community 
with intellectual disabilities.  Donations are $20 per team.  Applications are 
due April 29th.  To receive an application stop by the VIP office in the RSO 
complex on the 2nd floor of the Union or e-mail Ben at bjacobi at uiuc.edu.

6.  The Day Out of School Events are designed to recruit new girls and adults 
to become Girl Scouts, as well as retain current members of Girl Scouts. Cinco 
de Mayo event staff will help with activities including crafts, games, and 
Salsa dancing.  Volunteers will be needed May 3, from 8am-3pm.  If interested 
contact Rebecca Ballard at 328-5112.

7.  Walk for Africa- Link Community Development needs help for the Walk for 
Africa on Saturday, April 25th. Volunteers are needed to set up and help with 
registration and raffle sales @ noon, monitor the Walk at various 
intersections throughout its duration, as well as simple attending the Walk 
and show support for African poverty relief and HIV/AIDS prevention. For more 
information on the Walk or volunteering, contact Lindsay Baran at 
lbaran at uiuc.edu.
